During the spring musical season, schools are adjudicated by a panel of educators, theatre experts and industry professionals in 9 performance categories or technical categories. When all of the evaluations have been completed, scores are tabulated and certified. The highest score determines the winner in each category and winners are announced during the awards ceremony.
The winners of Best Actress and Best Actor go on to represent the Capital Region in The Jimmy Awards®/The National High School Musical Theatre Awards® (NHSMTA®). This program impacts more than 140,000 students who participate in high school musical theatre competitions sponsored by presenters of Touring Broadway productions throughout the United States.
