Musical Theatre Program at Proctors
This dynamic collaboration between Proctors and the Schenectady City School District connects students directly to the world of professional performing arts.
Launched at Proctors in fall 2022, the Schenectady High School Musical Theatre Program is housed in the Addy Theatrical Training and Innovation Center at Proctors, where students rotate in classes in the theatre, dance studio, company room, and media lab. Here, they gain hands-on experience in theatrical training, creative problem-solving, and leadership—right in the heart of their city.

By combining the expertise Proctors has in performance and production with the district’s commitment to student leadership, this program creates a space where students become innovators and collaborators in their own learning. They engage directly with industry professionals, work alongside their teachers, and explore careers in real-world settings—developing skills that extend far beyond the classroom.
Teachers are integral to the experience, connecting with activities year-round, including access to world-class performances, designers, technicians, and other arts professionals to enrich student learning.
With over 30,000 creative sector jobs in the Capital Region, Proctors serves as a hub where students can explore meaningful career pathways and gain inspiration through hands-on experiences that ignite their curiosity and potential.
