Broadway Camp

Join the region’s leading theatre training program! Broadway Camp offers aspiring performers, crew members, and musicians the opportunity to experience the rigor and excitement of producing a full-scale musical. Under the mentorship of Broadway professionals, students engage in studio classes, skill-building workshops, and hands-on training across all aspects of production. Through the Collaborative School of the Arts, Broadway Camp fosters a supportive, ensemble-driven environment designed to nurture student growth and artistic excellence.

URINETOWN was produced on Broadway Sept. 2001 by the Araca Group and Dodger Theatricals in association with TheatreDreams, Inc. and Lauren Mitchell.

Daily Rehearsal and Workshops:  

  • Intensive rehearsal and technical production work culminating in a full-stage performance on the MainStage at Proctors 
  • Workshops with Broadway professionals covering a range of areas, including performance, music, and production techniques (e.g., makeup, voice, diction, and more) 
  • Personalized vocal coaching for acting students 
  • Support in creating an audition songbook (16- and 32-bar cuts) and selecting appropriate musical theatre repertoire 
  • One-on-one acting coaching 
  • Identification and enhancement of your unique strengths 
  • Resume preparation and feedback 

Meet the creative team

KEVIN MCGUIRE (Broadway Camp Director) is the Director of Theatrical Programming at the Collaborative School of the Arts, and was the first artist to be named Associate Artist at Capital Repertory Theatre (theREP), where he has also directed and performed extensively. Kevin previously served as Artistic Director of The Theater Company at Hubbard Hall in Cambridge, New York. His stage credits span Broadway, national, and international tours: “Les Miserables” (Jean Valjean), “The Phantom of the Opera” (M. Andre, Phantom), “The Secret Garden” (Uncle Archie), and “Jane Eyre” (John Eyre, assistant to director John Caird).

At theREP, he has been featured in “Man Of La Mancha,” “Red,” “A Christmas Carol,” “Other Desert Cities,” “Camelot,” “She Loves Me,” “The Secret Garden,” “Shakespeare in Love,” “The Fully Monty,” “The Irish and How They Got That Way,” “The True,” and the critically acclaimed “The Lehman Trilogy.”

In New York, 2019 (pre-pandemic) Kevin appeared in the Heartbeat Opera’s “Der Freischutz” as Kuno, receiving rave reviews from the New York Times for his first opera ever and spent three seasons with The Juilliard Acting Company on Tour America. Born and raised in the Capital District. Education: St. Mary’s Academy, Hoosick Falls, NY, The Hoosac School, The Juilliard School.

FREDDY RAMIREZ (Choreographer) is the Director of Dance Programming at the Collaborative School of the Arts, an associate artist at theREP, and assistant artistic director at the Northeast Ballet Company. A former Broadway performer and In Forward Motion Dance Company member, Freddy now calls Upstate NY home. Freddy has been the choreographer for the Broadway Camp program at Proctors since its inception – “All Shook Up,” “Aida,” “Pippin,” “The Prom,” “Les Miserables,” “RENT,” “Into The Woods,” and “Fiddler on the Roof.”

He most recently choreographed “Once,” “Beautiful,” “Jersey Boys,” “Million Dollar Quartet Christmas”, “The Irish and How They Got That Way,” “The Wizard of Oz,” “Full Monty,” “She Loves Me,” “Mamma Mia,” “Camelot,” “A Christmas Story,” “Ring of Fire,” “Gypsy,” and “The Secret Garden” at theREP.

Other directing and choreography credits include “Guys and Dolls,” “Hello Dolly,” “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Damn Yankees,” “Carousel,” “Bye Bye Birdie,” “Little Shop of Horrors,” and “Nunsense” for numerous regional and repertory theaters.

In addition to the musical theatre world, Freddy has created choreography for plays including “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” “Shakespeare in Love,” “Miss Bennet Christmas at Pemberley,” “A Sherlock Carol,” “It’s A Wonderful Life,” the world premieres of “The Naked Influence” and “Some People Hear Thunder,” and for national and international dance companies.

His dance works have been performed all throughout Europe and here in the US.

Louis Danowsky (Music Director) is a New Jersey-based music director, orchestrator, and educator. Passionate about new work, he loves the collaborative process of getting shows from idea to stage. He most recently orchestrated the World Premiere of Syncopated Avenue at Westcoast Black Theatre Troupe in Sarasota, FL, which was met with acclaim from local press. Additional credits include The Oscar Micheaux Project (National Alliance for Musical Theatre), Clean Slate (Passage Theater Company), Atlantic (Irish Repertory Theatre), and Ride the Cyclone (McCarter Theatre). He is the Orchestration Supervisor for the Princeton University Triangle Show, the oldest undergraduate student-written musical in the country. Outside of theater, he is the music director of Packanack Community Church in Wayne, NJ, and is a teaching artist and accompanist at Paper Mill Playhouse in Millburn, NJ.
