MediaLAB

MediaLAB is an innovative and dynamic after-school program crafted to immerse students in the captivating realm of modern media. This creative laboratory aims to foster media literacy, sharpen journalistic skills, master the art of storytelling, and hone the technical prowess of shooting and editing. MediaLAB strives to empower students to produce a diverse range of captivating content, including talk shows, webcasts, interviews, advertisements and news features.  

All cameras, editing equipment, and software provided.

Media Lab is offered exclusively to Schenectady City School District students in grades 6-8.

Program Details:
Hours: 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday, when school is in session

Our media instructor David Daniel Hosannah is a filmmaker in the Albany area. His background is in costuming and writing for film and television. He has a Broadcasting & Cinema and Screen Studies degree from SUNY Oswego and is now applying his studies and professional experience to teaching. Having worked on various films for Hulu such as Miguel Wants to Fight (2023) and Prom Dates (2024), He strives to enrich the learning experience by creating lessons and projects that stem from his on-set experience.
